4th Fridays: Summer concert series at Market Street launches this Friday
Huntingburg isn’t wasting any time in finding uses for Market Street Park.
Through a partnership with the IU Center for Rural Engagement, the city and Destination Huntingburg will host a new summer concert series at the park beginning this Friday.
4th Fridays will take place on Fridays, June 28, July 26 and August 23, 2019, from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. These events are free and will include live music, food trucks, a cash bar provided by The Gaslight, and games and activities for kids.
“As the development of Market Street Park was taking place, our steering committee envisioned this type of event, one that provides an opportunity for those of all ages to gather and celebrate,” said Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner. “Through our partnership with the IU Center for Rural Engagement and Destination Huntingburg, this vision has become a reality. We feel that 4th Fridays will add to the vibrancy of our downtown, and continue to make it a destination for years to come.”
This Friday’s event features two music groups from Indiana University, Side Hustle — performing from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. — and Side Hustle — performing from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. — as well as local favorite, Calabash — performing from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. — as the headliner. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs for seating.
“We are thrilled to be involved with 4th Fridays, as part of our mission is to develop and enrich an inviting atmosphere in our downtown, and we feel this concert series does just that,” said Destination Huntingburg Executive Director Sarah Flamion. “We encourage those who attend the event to also take time to visit the local businesses and restaurants on and around 4th Street, as well.”
