4-H Public Speaking winners announced

4-H public speaking winners were chosen to represent Dubois County at the Indiana State Fair this year.

The 4-H Council and Purdue Extension hosted the 4-H Public Speaking contest on April 28, 2015 at the Dubois County 4?H Fairgrounds.

The contest is an excellent opportunity for youth to gain experience in communicating ideas to others while competing for local and state awards.  This year’s speech theme was chosen from participants’ personal 4-H experiences.

Winners for the 2015 competition included: Megan Rydberg, Champion, Clover category (Grades 3 – 5); Kiersten Woehler, Champion, Junior Category (Grades 6 – 8); Louisa Nino, Champion, and Hannah Rydberg, Reserve Champion, Senior Category (Grade 9 – 12).  Overall Louisa Nino was named Grand Champion, and Hannah Rydberg was Reserve Grand Champion for the event.

Junior and Senior contestants will represent Dubois County as they move on to the state level contest at the Indiana State Fair in August.
