3-vehicle crash injures Jasper man

A Jasper man was taken to Memorial Hospital with injuries after a three-vehicle chain reaction crash on U.S. 231 Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to the crash located at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Wernsing Road at about 12:24 p.m. They determined Jordan Comstock, 35, of Louisville, Ky., did not stop the 2007 Ford Econoline box truck he was driving in time to avoid colliding with a southbound 2015 Jeep Compass that had stopped to turn left on Wernsing.

The collision caused the back window of the Jeep Compass to shatter and pieces of it hit a northbound 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Robert O’Brien, 80 of Huntingburg.

Ronnie Goeppner, 49, of Jasper, the driver of the Jeep Compass, was taken to Memorial Hospital for a complaint of arm pain.

Police estimated the damage to the Jeep was about $10,000, the Ford box truck was $1,500 and the Toyota was about $1,000.

Comstock was cited for following too closely.
