26 roads flooded after weekend rains

Monday, the Dubois County Highway Department reported 26 county roads are closed due to rising water levels from the Patoka River, Straight River, Ell Creek, Hunley Creek, Bruner Creek, Indian Creek, Little Flat Creek, and other low-lying areas.

In District 1, Madison Township has been hit hardest with nine closures. CR 150 North has two separate closures — west of CR 750 West and between 500 West and 600 West — along with CR 875 West south of CR 150 North and CR 50 North west of CR 750 West, all tied to Little Flat Creek. CR 800 West north of CR 300 South, Division Road east of CR 600 West, Stewart Road off Division Road, CR 150 South west of Old Huntingburg Road, and Ell Creek Road north of CR 400 South are all affected by the Patoka River. Harbison Township’s CR 600 North east of Kellerville Road is also closed due to bottom ground flooding.

District 1

• Madison Twp — Stewart Road, Off of Division Road (Patoka River)
• Madison Twp — CR 150 South, West of Old Huntingburg Road (Patoka River)
• Madison Twp — Ell Creek Road, North of CR 400 South (Patoka River)
• Harbison Twp — CR 600 North, East of Kellerville Road (Bottom Ground)

District 2 now has seven closures across the Bainbridge, Marion, and Harbison townships. Meridian Road in Bainbridge Township south of SR 162 remains closed due to the Straight River. CR 300 North and CR 175 East in Marion Township near their intersection are both affected by the Patoka River, as is Harbison Township’s CR 175 East between CR 600 North and CR 325 East. Bainbridge Township has three additional closures tied to the Patoka River: CR 190 North north of Meridian Road, Kellerville Road north of Cathy Lane, and CR 225 South between WITZ Road and CR 130 West.

District 2

• Bainbridge Twp — Meridian Road, South of SR 162 (Straight River) REOPENED this afternoon.
• Marion Twp — CR 300 North, West of CR 175 East (Patoka River)
• Marion Twp — CR 175 East, South of CR 300 North (Patoka River)
• Harbison Twp — CR 175 East, Between 600 North and 325 East
• Bainbridge Twp — CR 190 North, North of Meridian Road (Patoka River)
• Bainbridge Twp — Kellerville Road, North of Cathy Lane (Patoka River)
• Bainbridge Twp — CR 225 South, Between WITZ Road and 130 West (Patoka River)

In District 3, nine roads remain closed across the Bainbridge and Patoka townships. Old Huntingburg Road in Bainbridge Township north of CR 400 South is affected by the Patoka River. CR 400 South has two separate closures — west of Ell Creek Road and east of US 231 — tied to Ell Creek and Hunley Creek respectively. CR 130 West and Old Road 64 are also closed due to Hunley Creek, while Duff Road Southeast between CR 600 West and CR 500 South is closed due to Ell Creek. 1st Street in Huntingburg remains closed due to Bruner Creek, and CR 75 West and CR 660 South are both affected by Indian Creek.

District 3

• Patoka Twp — CR 660 South, East of CR 75 West (Indian Creek)

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads and never attempt to drive through standing water. Road conditions are being monitored, and closures will be updated as water levels change.
