2024 Dubois County Leadership Academy capstone projects support Crisis Connection and Haysville Park

The 2024 Dubois County Leadership Academy celebrated the most recent graduates with a convocation at Vincnnes University Jasper.

The Academy equips attendees with essential leadership skills, covering leadership essentials, business and entrepreneurship, government and public service, communications, civic leadership, and more. Both teams successfully completed their capstone projects.

Team #1 The Crisis Connection team ran the “Project Safe Ride” campaign. Their efforts brought about a donation of a car from Ruxer’s, value $12,500 and donations amounting to $3,840 to be used for the upkeep of the vehicle in the future. The team members were Jason Sermersheim (SVB&T), Evan Schum (Buffalo Trace/City of Jasper), Janet Rydberg (Kimball International), and Deidra Church (Memorial Hospital).

Team #2 – Haysville Park Improvements: This team raised $15,600 to benefit Haysville Park. They purchased and replaced a four-panel garage door, four entry doors, and several tables in the shelter house. They are still collecting money and hope to raise $1,000 more for exterior paint on the building. This team consisted of Brent Siebert (Jasper Engines), Brandy Green (German American Bank), Craig Jellison (City of Jasper), Shay Thomas (SIRS), and Amanda Johnson (Northeast Dubois School Corp).

Here’s what participants had to say about the academy:

”It has helped me learn more about the community and make contacts for potential future projects.”

“I think that all of Dubois County businesses, schools, banks, nonprofit organizations, etc. would benefit from involving an employee in this program. I would love to be involved in helping Dubois County Leadership Academy to grow.”

A huge thank you to all the participants, the companies that sponsored them, the leadership committee, and everyone who donated to the success of these projects. Your support is invaluable.
