2013 Strassenfest theme announced

Jasper – The Jasper Strassenfest Committee announced the theme for the 2013 Jasper Strassenfest to be held August 1 -4 in downtown Jasper.

The committee chose, “Celebrating 35 Years of Food, Fun and Memories”, to accentuate the 35th Anniversary of the Strassenfest in downtown Jasper. Since it’s beginning in 1979, the Jasper Strassenfest has gotten bigger and better every year and now features a huge variety of food booths; entertainment on three downtown stages, plus competitive events for all ages.

The Strassenfest Committee is once again asking for the community’s help in choosing a “Hofmarschall” or “Grand Marshall” for the 2013 Jasper Strassenfest. If you know of someone who has given generously of their time to promote the city of Jasper and Jasper’s German heritage, you may nominate them to be considered for selection as the Strassenfest Hofmarschall. To submit a nomination, send a letter listing your nominee’s name along with a brief statement of why you feel this person or persons is deserving of this honor.

Letters of nomination may be dropped off at the Jasper Chamber of Commerce office at 302 West 6th street in Jasper. You may also mail your letter of nomination to the Jasper Strassenfest Committee, attention Hofmarschall Nomination, P.O. Box 307, Jasper Indiana 47547-0307. Nominations must be received at the Chamber office no later than March 1st. The 2013 Jasper Strassenfest Hofmarschall selection will be chosen at the committee’s March meeting and announced shortly thereafter.

The Strassenfest Committee would also like to announce that sponsorship request letters will be mailed soon. The committee encourages past sponsors of the Jasper Strassenfest to watch their mail for these letters and respond as quickly as possible. All cash and in-kind sponsors are listed in the events and activities program booklet each year. The committee would like to get these booklets printed and distributed well in advance of the Strassenfest to encourage as many people as possible to attend the Strassenfest.
