18-year-old LifeFlighted after crash south of Holland
An injured Dale teenager was flown from the scene of a crash south of Holland on State Road 161 to an Evansville hospital by helicopter Thursday afternoon.
According to Dubois County deputies who responded to the crash at 5:49 p.m., witnesses said that Brady Hile, 18, of Dale, appeared to have fallen asleep at the wheel of a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. The car crossed the center line of State Road 161 near the intersection with County Road 1150S and struck the rear tires of a trailer being pulled northbound by a 2000 Freightliner tractor driven by Jeremy Smith, 36, of Grand Forks, N.D.
Davis was entrapped in the car and had to be extricated. His injuries are unknown at this time.
Smith was not injured.
Hile’s car had about $5,000 in damages and the trailer had about $10,000, according to police.
Members of the Holland Volunteer Fire Department, who were first on the scene, were joined by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Dubois County Emergency Medical Services and wreckers from Sternberg’s and Ruxer Ford at the scene.
