Dr. Gogel provides Optimal Performance Chiropractic care

Optimal Performance Chiropractic is a small cozy doctor’s office at the end of Fourth Street near the Huntingburg City Hall and Dr. Jenna Gogel’s smile warms it fairly easily on these unusual spring/winter days. The Southridge grad (maiden name Burton) opened the office in October of last year and has been slowly building her practice with regular customers as well as the occasional drop in.

As is the case many times in life, Dr. Gogel found her vocation through her own experiences with treatment for back injuries she sustained tumbling as a Southridge Cheerleader. She was treated by a local chiropractor and was impressed with the course of her rehabilitation without having to resort to using painkillers. Afterward Dr. Gogel began shadowing local chiropractors to learn more about the methodology and how she could help people.

She entered IU and after finishing her degree in Exercise Science she attended Logan Chiropractic College. “I chose Logan because it was close to the area and to my family; I am a family person,” Dr. Gogel explained. “and it was a beautiful campus.”

Gogel is passionate about sports related therapy but she welcomes all ages and activity levels. “I really like working with athletes. I did an internship at the BioFreeze Sports and Rehabilitation Center.” Gogel said. “I enjoyed it because they [athletes] work at getting better, they do the exercises and take my advice because they are so motivated to heal. But some of my favorite patients are in their 70’s and 80’s.”

Since the spine and nerves are connected to all aspects of the body and chiropractic is focused on those areas, Gogel explained that she is able to help patients with a tremendous list of ailments. “Problems with the nervous system can lead to all sorts of problems. So I treat everything from plantar fasciitis to tingling fingers; even colicky babies, menstrual problems, and skin conditions.”

Optimal Performance Chiropractic may seem like a sports oriented name, but in reality Gogel named her business to emphasize she is dedicated to returning her patients to their optimum potential, whether they are 12 years old or 85 years old.

“I was so happy when I had a patient come in here recently. He had to use a cane because he had excruciating pain every few steps and the medication wasn’t working.” She said. “He walked out of here without a cane; I told him to continue using the cane, but he was so happy. He came in later and he still didn’t have a cane.”

In the end Dr. Gogel is committed to helping patients feel better and her new establishment on Fourth Street has plenty of room to provide personalized healing.

She is located at 504 E. Fourth Street in Huntingburg. Her number is 812-684-0095.
